Goodbye Neighbors

I've loved my little house on Soi 3! I also enjoyed my quiet neighborhood and the friendly neighbors that I've been blessed with. I invited them to my house for a "going away ice cream party". About 20 people came and a few others stopped by other times to say they couldn't make it. I was also thankful that it didn't rain, so I could show an Isaan movie based on the prodigal son story.

Baby Shower

There are some friends here in the city who are expecting a baby, so I thought it would be fun to bless them with a baby shower. Other people joined in to help and about 20 people came (with 5 countries represented). So I tried to make sure the games were something everyone could participate in. Not every culture is familiar with the concept of the baby shower, so it was a little interesting trying to communicate why only ladies were invited :) We compromised and let the men join us for the second half.

Thai new Year

I celebrated Songkran (Thai New Years) in a couple different ways. I went out to the village because the school where I taught last year had a special ceremony. Some of the girls put on traditional Isaan dances and then we all had a meal together. I also was able to go into the city twice to ride in the back of trucks and be a part of the water fights.

Retreat

At the beginning of April I attended the annual retreat for workers in this region. The setting was a beautiful resort and golf course set in the hills/mountains of the northern part of the country. It is always an encouraging spending time with co-laborers :)
